Major Boost to India’s Defence Aviation: Embraer & Mahindra Group Partner for C-390 MRO Hub

Friends according to the media reports Embraer and Mahindra Group (announced Feb 2026) are partnering to establish a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in India for the C-390 Millennium aircraft. This follows a 2025 pact to produce the transport aircraft in India for the IAF's Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program, emphasizing "Make in India" and local sourcing. 

Key Details of the Partnership:

Goal: The partnership aims to support the Indian Air Force's (IAF) requirement for new Medium Transport Aircraft.

MRO Capability: The planned facility will provide comprehensive maintenance, including structural inspections, testing, component repair, and overhaul for the C-390 fleet.

Local Production: The collaboration builds on a 2025 strategic agreement to, if selected, manufacture the C-390 Millennium locally in India.

Platform Capabilities: The C-390 Millennium is a modern, 26-ton payload transport aircraft capable of cargo/troop transport, aerial refueling, and firefighting.

Strategic Impact: The alliance supports India’s 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-reliant India) initiative by developing a local defense ecosystem, potentially creating significant industrial opportunities. 

Mahindra C-390 is a major competitor for the IAF's tender, boasting high versatility for varied terrains and missions.
