MP Government Allocates 169 Hectares for Tata Energy in Rewa

How Tatas ₹28,000 Crore Investment Will Transform Rewa

According to the media reports,The Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh, already home to one of Asias largest solar parks, is set for a massive economic boost. Tata Power (referred to in local reports as Tata Energy) has proposed a monumental investment of ₹28,000 crore to establish a new power plant in the region.

Here is a breakdown of the investment details as of April 2026.

Project Overview: The New Frontier

While Rewa is synonymous with solar, this new investment marks a strategic shift toward high-capacity Clean and Green energy, with reports indicating it may involve Private Nuclear Power generation—a first for the Indian private sector.

Investment Amount: ₹28,000 Crore.

Proposed Capacity:Initially 220 MW, scaling up to 1,000 MW (and potentially 2,400 MW in future phases).

Location: Near Kyoti (Rozhouhin), Sirmaur Tehsil, Rewa Employment: Expected to create over 5,000 jobs (direct and indirect).

Current Status: The project is in the feasibility study stage. State officials and Tata Power are currently assessing technical viability, environmental impact, and land requirements.

Strategic Significance

This project is part of a broader push to turn the Vindhya region into a global energy hub.

| Feature | Details |

| Land Allocation | Approximately 169 hectares have been identified by the MP Industrial Development Corporation. |

| Energy Type | Focused on "Clean and Green" energy. Local administration highlights it as a "Nuclear Power Plant" initiative following recent central government policy shifts allowing private participation. |

| Infrastructure | Rewa improved connectivity (new airport, rail, and road upgrades) was a primary driver for Tatas interest. |

The Existing Rewa Ultra Mega Solar (RUMS)

It is important to distinguish this new Tata investment from the existing 750 MW Rewa Solar Park, which has been operational since 2018-2020.

Legacy:The RUMS project was the first in India to break the grid parity barrier (lowest solar tariff at the time).

Reach:It famously provides 24% of its energy to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMR), powering nearly 60% of the metro's daytime operations.

 Important Considerations

Approvals:As of late April 2026, the project is not yet under construction. It requires multiple clearances from regulatory and environmental authorities.

Land Acquisition:While the government is assisting with 169 hectares of barren land, Tata Energy is expected to manage additional private land acquisitions directly.

If the feasibility study is successful and clearances are granted, this will be one of the largest industrial investments in Madhya Pradesh history, potentially making Rewa a pioneer in private-sector nuclear energy.
